Famous for its association with Robin Hood, Nottingham is in the very heart of England. The outlaw’s legend lives on, with many city streets and buildings named after him and his Merry Men. A Robin Hood statue sits at the foot of Nottingham Castle, on a small hill with historic pubs built into it. Also cut into the rock are visitable caves extending under the city.
The Old Market Square is the largest in the UK and becomes a city beach in the summer, with rides and a small pool. Permanent fixtures are the impressive Council House with its Exchange Arcade shops, and the several Nottingham hotels with parking in the surrounding area.
During the 19th century, Nottingham was an important lace-making center and many Victorian warehouses and buildings remain in the Lace Market area. Neighboring Hockley is home to the National Ice Center and independent shops, while the biggest shopping centers are Broadmarsh and the Victoria Center.
In the western suburbs, by Nottingham University, Wollaton Park surrounds an Elizabethan stately home, while east of Trent Bridge cricket ground is the National Water Sports Center in Holme Pierrepont. The University of Nottingham campus is a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city with its grassy spaces, views of the lake and beautiful trees. We had a car, and we were provided with a free parking permit for the duration of our stay. Transport around the city is easy by tram or bus.
We ate at the Orchard restaurant on campus where the menu is good, but there is also a small well stocked supermarket in the Portland building.
Wollaton Hall and deer park nearby is well worth a visit with lovely walks, a nice cafe and the house has interesting exhibitions and friendly informative staff. There is also a childrens; outdoor play area.

None of the shops display the number of the street that they are in. I spent some time trying to find a particular shop. I found the street, but without numbers on the properties, I walked back and forth. I did not visit any of the 'popular places' listed below.
A shopping centre is being demiolished in the middle of the city, involving walking around a building site. Speaking to someone the next day, I gather that the work has been going on for some time.

As an older traveller I found the city centre a little daunting (I lived there in my 20s). I think it has was is called a "vibrant" atmosphere. Lots of different cultures rubbing shoulders which was lovely, and tons of students. Nice to go back for a visit

Very clean and pleasant traffic free city centre.
Very clean and pleasant traffic free city centre. Some nice high quality shops, with several empty unoccupied shops as in most city and town centres. It is over 40 years since my last visit and I feel sure it has improved since my last visit.

I'm a quiet person so I don't enjoy loud and busy streets.
I'm a quiet person so I don't enjoy loud and busy streets. Too many dark areas and alleyways.
Plenty of places to eat though, varied selections.
Nice areas to walk as well with historic monuments.
- Staff courteous & efficient
- Seemed extremely clean & well ventilated, with hand sanitiser dispensers in the foyer & lifts
- We preferred the reduced level of room servicing, as we didn't have to worry about a cleaner coming in on the first morning
- Use of the hotel's own car park meant no concerns about finding convenient city centre parking just before Christmas. We left the car there for our whole stay.
This is a hidden gem. Very close to the city centre, the food is very reasonably priced, and the staff is excellent! The room was large with a very comfortable bed. When I first got to the room the TV wouldn't work and the GM himself came to the room immediately and it was fixed. Very special place to stay and I'll be back.
Friendly staff, Nice room & en suite
Good location for city centre.........................................................................................................................................................................................................................
- Rooms are extremely cheap and just like how the old saying goes "you get what you pay for".
- Parking right at the front of the hotel, with no extra charge at all
- The women cleaner we met was extremely nice
- 80/90s decor throw-back experience
- Very close to city centre
Right in the city centre and we were lucky enough to get a space in the carpark right under the hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast was buffet but much better than expected from a big city centre hotel. Nottingham has a great choice of restaurants and pubs.
Ample free parking at the hotel. Although not in the city centre, it was only short drive (£7 Uber) to get there for an event we were attending at the Motorpoint Arena. Standard modern HIE room for family of 4 (2 x double beds) which give enough space for a short trip.
location was great considering the value for money, only a 10 minute walk into the city centre. the whole system of a code to get into the building and rooms is really efficient. i would definitely stay there again if i were to be back in nottingham.
The Friendly Welcoming Staff at Reception.
The Absolute Cleanliness of the Rooms
Better than some Big Budget Name Hotels.
Quirky Bedroom Names lol.
Excellent Value for Money.
Couldn't Ask for More with the City Centre Location.
The location, in a picturesque corner of Nottingham city centre, walking distance from the event we attended. The hotel was lovely, clean, we were upgraded for free to a larger room.
The staff couldn’t have been nicer.
Great location for Wollaton Park, easy to find off the M1, buses leave just outside for the city centre and the Nottingham loop. Hotel was clean and well maintained. Lovely staff. Great decor in the dining room.
Location to city centre was 15 mins walk. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Not a 5 star hotel, but value for the money that you do pay. Good Wi-Fi and selection of streamed viewing apps on the TV.
it was comfortable and not that far from city center. the staff was so kindly behaving and cooperative.
in term of cost, it was affordable if we compare it with other hotel within Nottingham city center.
Excellent hotel, clean, comfortable room, quiet and friendly great place. Best staff :) Lovely town with near by supermarkets and quick connection to city centre of Nottingham. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The hotel is well situated being in the centre of Nottingham and close to the railway station.
The rooms are quirky and comfortable. The staff very friendly and helpful.
Location - very central for city centre and Motorpoint arena. Although a very busy hotel it was very quiet in the room. Slept well in a very comfy bed.
