The Manager on the first day was good , however the other person was horrible and they didn’t allow us to checkin but allowed us the next day.
They’re scammers selling our room to someone else and don’t care what happens to the customer.
Bastion Hotel Zaandam is located close to the A8, a 20-minute drive from the centre of Amsterdam and 4 km from Zaanse Schans with its beautiful windmills.

The rooms are clean and well-equipped and look exactly like in the photos and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly! The Tv comes with chromecast and the bath has jacuzzi settings. Location is also good with lots of shops and bars/restaurants nearby and less than 30 minutes to amsterdam centre

The hotel is stylish and clean. I liked the free coffee of a morning. The room is tidy and has the basic things you need. Great LED mirror too! The bed was large and comfortable!
Unfortunately we found Zaandam very run down. When we visited the centre square and there was broken glass and plastic beer cups strewn all over the floor, it was awful. Food was very pricy and not good quality in the centre square. Safe to say we will not be visiting again.

A nice area, clean and well kept.
A nice area, clean and well kept. Easy transport links into the city and to other nearby towns.
Enjoyed a visit to the windmill area, which was a cultural experience, lots to do.
Found eating a task, only because we wanted more traditional, national food, which we found hard to come by.

The Russian Tzar House is a must visit.
The Russian Tzar House is a must visit. It is the oldest house in Netherlands, preserved in very good conditions. You will learn a lot. The Zaan Museum also. The Zaanse Schans it is for one whole day or two days visit. A lot of museums. It is very nice. And if it is good wind you are going to smell only chocolate in the air. The bakery just in front of the bridge is having the most delicious patisserie. The restaurants around have great food, nice personnel.

I stayed in Zaandam to get out of the tourist hustle and bustle of Amsterdam. I liked it's proximity to the train connections which were close by and easy to use. It was nice to see another part of Amsterdam. The shopping areas and cafes / restaurants in Zaandam were really good.
This hotel has a really nice traditional Zaans design, and the location is spot on the main modern shopping street (no cars), with many options for shopping, as well as nice restaurant area closeby with several restaurants and bars.
We had room with sauna and jacuzzi which felt like a private spa, since also 2 big lounge chairs were in the room.
Quite, also close to Central Station.
The parking was next door, a big Qpark, I think hotel send a option to prepay for 16 otherwise it's 19euro for 24h.
I stayed for 6 nights with my family of 2 kids. The cottage has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, full equipped kitchen, living room with TV and audio. Demian and Agata live next door, easy to get connected in case needed. My kids are big fan of the cottage. Location wise is very good, 2 stops away from Amsterdam Centraal by Intercity or Sprinter. Zaandam itself is a very good neighbourhood to bring kids. Close to Dekamart, Albert Heijn and Zaandam city center. Our stay in Holland has been memorable!
Great location! Nice places to eat nearby with a local feel. Easy access to Amsterdam central or the airport - both only a 15 minute ride away. Also got the ferry into central Amsterdam which was 1 hour for very cheap! Great location to stay at to be a little further out of the city. The hotel itself is nice, clean, friendly staff. The room itself was smaller but tidy, very light with big windows looking out over the city. The train station is a 1 minute walk away which was very useful.
The staff were extremely welcoming and happy to help whenever we had questions. They were extremely polite and always smiled and greeted us whenever we were leaving and coming back. The location was extremely easy to get to by bus although we had to get a Amsterdam and Region travel ticket as it is outside of the inner city area in Zaandam. However, the bus comes quite frequently and is an extremely quick trip to the hotel- especially Zaanse Schans!!
The location of the hotel is excellent, 3 minutes from the train station, from which you need exactly 12 minutes by train to the central station in Amsterdam. The town of Zaandam is very peaceful and beautiful. There are many famous shops, fast food restaurants.
The hotel is good, the staff is good.
The only thing that was bad for us was that the beds were on wheels and they separated during the night and we didn't have hand soap in the bathroom.
Breakfast reasonably priced during week and had excellent variety.
Loved the location. We were in Zaandam, which was one station away from Amsterdam. But it was an interesting, quiet little town. We enjoyed getting to know Zaandam.
The hotel was new and comfortable. The staff always had smiles and good answers to our questions.
The train station was also very convenient for us.
This affordable hotel is very comfortable and clean. The staff is helpful and friendly. It is close to the Zaandam train station, which you can go to take the train or bus to Amsterdam and other tourist towns like Zaanse Schans and Volendam. There are many shops and places to eat. There's also an Albert Heijn nearby to get snacks and drinks. I would come back here again.
The location is great, being close to the train station means you can get quickly to the city center, to the airport, etc. It's far from the city center and the overpriced and tiny accomodations there. But shopping centers and restaurants are also close by in Zaandamm. The bed was soft, the room was big, parking was available if you're by car.
Walkable distance to Zaandam station. So the commute to Amsterdam central was super easy and efficient. The rooms were super nice and big. We got the rooms in the new block of the hotel. So everything was quite modern and neat. Comfy sofa and beds and clean toilets! Pretty good choice to stay and walkable to zaandam train station:
The Distrikt Hotel is in a very nice location of Zaandam with lot of food options at walking distance. It is a bit more affordable than Amsterdam and just one (train) stop away or in my case a nice bicycle ride. Breakfast is simple, but very pleasant, good croisants and coffee, also try the pain-au-chocolat.
Much cheaper alternative than staying in Amsterdam, Zaandam is quite a nice town and only 2 stops on the train from central Amsterdam. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was very nice. Hotel is next to some nice cafes and restaurants and a nice shopping centre.
Honestly I love Amsterdam and the hotel was amazing located and easy to move around just one things it was the room very small and the rate was high then what I expected for the room ..
anyway I had a good and thank you to everyone who I meet at the property
Zaandam is a lovely, quiet neighborhood, family friendly. Close to Amsterdam by train and to Zaanse Sachs to see the windmills.
We could leave our bags at the hotel, after checkout, with no additional charge.
Clean room and nice reception staff. Easy check-out process. Bus stop 2 mins away from the hotel - just across the street. Decent price compared to other options
