Great location, wonderful, friendly owner Joby. Lovely room and nice en-suite. We'd been through one of those two day nightmares you read about online trying to get away from Sicily due to the fire in Catania airport. We lost two expensive hotel bookings, neither of which even replied to polite requests for date changes etc, with so much as a "Sorry it's too late for that." Joby was communicative and flexible around our situation and even welcomed us with gin and tonics and beers in the fridge in the room when we finally made it. And they have parking too which is tough in St Ives.

Thurlestone House is an adults-only bed & breakfast in Carbis Bay, around 1.2 miles from St Ives. The property enjoys sea views and offers a range of breakfasts. Just 7 minutes’ drive from the Tate St Ives gallery, this Cornish bed & breakfast has free parking and WiFi.

We enjoyed staying at Thurlestone House very much indeed for the 10 nights we were there. John and Linda could not have made us more welcome and were a fountain of knowledge both on the local area and wider Cornwall so were always willing to help with travel advice and where to go and what to see. The room was very comfortable, quiet and a nice size for the two of us. Breakfasts were very good indeed with a wide choice and always served with a smile. We would have no hesitation in staying at Thurlestone House again when next in the St Ives area.

We were made to feel most welcome right from the start when our host spotted us looking for their sign and proceeded to tell us that we were indeed at the right place. He opened the door, helped me with my bag and promptly checked us in with a friendly explanation of the amenities and what to expect the next morning for breakfast. Then he escorted us to our room and made sure that we were happy with the accommodations before resuming his duties downstairs. Our bed was very comfortable, the room was very clean and the breakfast was delicious. All of our interactions with our hosts were warm and helpful. Lastly, we were very pleased with the proximity of the property to the local train. It was just the right distance away, but a short enough walk with our bags so as to make it easy to get to and depart from the property when we had to catch an early train on our day of departure.

The breakfast was customised based on each guest’s specific preferences. Both Steve and Tressa were great hosts and quite punctual in delivering it to the guest’s designated dinning table. The atmosphere was both quiet and relaxing within a very charming home and backyard setting.
