Staff were lovely, food exceptional. Place great. Only thing was the traffic on the road outside was noisy and hotel might have provided earplugs when I mentioned it ☺️

Dalston village is beautiful, but Carlisle Town, what we saw of it was uninspiring and unattractive.
Lots of road works , confusing road systems and busy. Not a bit like the other lake district towns.
Perhaps we hadn't seen the best of it to be fair.

Quite an underrated town.
Quite an underrated town. The castle and cathedral are very interesting, plenty of history to see. I like it most because you can quite easily travel to fantastic locations from all directions; Hadrian's wall & Newcastle to the East, Ribblehead & the Lake district to the South, the scenic Cumbrian coast to the West & the Historic Southern lowlands of Scotland to the North!

Convenience as a base to visit more of Cumbria.
Convenience as a base to visit more of Cumbria. If like me you don't drive its good to have a base with plenty of public transport to enable you to see a variety of places. Carlisle itself is easy to walk round, everything within walking distance.

I love Carlisle!
I love Carlisle!
It’s a great town with good shopping, history and nightlife
The bars and restaurants are wonderful and it’s very friendly
There is plenty of parking, it’s compact and interesting
My favourites are The Thin White Duke for drinks/food and Bocata bar for live music, atmosphere and great drinks
The restaurant was exceptional. We chose to dine there both nights we stayed at the property, no need to look elsewhere. The staff were professional and friendly. While the grounds are under a complete renovation, we understand the value of temporary inconvenience, longterm improvement, and hope to see the results when we return.
If you're a golfer, the Carlisle Golf Club is minutes away. Do your self a favor and book a tee time. A real gem
Everything was fabulous and above expectations. The host had added little extra touches in the room that made a difference and she went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed. Only stayed one night but would definitely rebook and stay for longer next time we are in Carlisle. Breakfast was superb and cooked to order. Hotel is
Within easy walking distance of the city
Centre but I’m a quiet road
Clean and spacious, better than the photographs, that's for sure! Beds were very comfortable.
Thoughtful touches around the place that made it welcoming and cosy. Absolute bargain for the price I paid. Dalton is a very picturesque village.
I have a relative who has moved to Carlisle and I will be recommending this place to the rest of the family for anytime they want to visit.
Cheap and cheerful, I had a single room . Nice and clean bedding, obviously the place is dated but clean that all I need and some free biscuits. Stayed at lot more expensive hotels ( no biscuits there ) and some free shampoo etc . lady on reception was very nice at the cheek in .
Watch for your sat nav putting you into the premier inn over the road. Mine did .
The hotel is very close to the M6, A69 junction near Carlisle and is perfect for a stop over. The hotel is comfortable and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed on our way up for a holiday in Scotland and liked the hotel so much we did the same on our way back. Highly recommended.
We love to stay in small hotels or small bed and breakfast inns. Bessietown Country Guest house is one of our favorites now. Wish we could have stayed longer but we will look to book again in the future. The cottage we were in was perfect. Everything clean and breakfast was delicious.
The hotel is located in a relatively quiet area outside the centre of Carlisle, although it's not too far away either. The staff were very friendly and helpful and everything seemed to work as it should. Breakfast was good and included in the very reasonable overall price. Ample parking.
The location was convenient in terms of walking to the bus and train stations. The hotel is dated, but has retained some of the characteristics of the era when it was prime. the room was clean and comfortable and the meal in the dining room was quite satisfactory.
It was my first time at this hotel and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The room with large, clean and warm with a lovely comfortable bed.
My two dogs and myself were made very welcome.
I will be delighted to stay here again the next time I'm in Carlisle
The breakfast is the morning was great. The host was very nice and accommodating.
I thought that the hotel was quiet and that the room was comfortable.
Safe are to walk around.
Short distance from the Sands Center and the Hadrian's Wall Path.
Large room, comfortable bed. Located at the heart of Carlisle directly opposite the train station with all local amenities within easy walking distance. Free car parking to rear of the hotel.
